Thierry Ruff

Thierry Ruf is an agronomist and a geographer, from IRD (French Research Institute for the Development), UMR SENS (Savoirs environnement et sociétés), workgroup on the governance of natural resources. He leads a professional current on the "social water management". For 40 years, his researches on the water  territories cross analyses between the public water policies and the practices of the local rural societies. The comparative researches concern several regions with a long hydraulic and agricultural history, in the Mediterranean countries, and in the Andes.
